Welcome to Follow the Leader Designs a new counted
thread design company. FTL is a family owned business, specializing in
counted cross stitch designs, with a particular fondness for specialty stitches
and high quality fibers. Colleen, our designer, has been stitching
for more than twenty (20) years. Colleen lovingly acknowledges her
maternal grandmother for passing on her passion for stitching and other
handmade works of art. She recalls her grandmother’s warmhearted patience
and encouragement during each and every project, beginning with her first cross
stitch at age six. (See below) She also witnessed the pride and sense
of fulfillment her grandmother experienced with the completion of various cross
stitch creations for family and friends.
To follow in Mom Mom Rita’s (AKA Mom Mom Sarah,
but that’s a long story….) footsteps, and to illustrate our commitment
to provide a superior product line, countless hours are devoted to
the concept and development phases of each design. As we
continue to expand our catalogue, we are confident you will be pleased
with the diversity, quality and uniqueness of each design
release. There are so many avenues we have yet to explore in stitching,
and Follow the Leader promises to pursue innovative paths to provide
distinctive, unexpected designs.
On a more personal note, Colleen is very blessed
to have a wonderfully talented husband Deane who spent many hours designing her
website and completing thousands of other tasks to allow her the opportunity to
pursue her dream. Our family includes a precocious
3 year old son Deane III, a beautiful 1 year old daughter Grace, our ever lazy
4 year old dog Drexel, and last but not least our hermit crab Crabfeller.
